The LA Giltinis have confirmed the addition of brothers Harry and Sean McNulty for the 2021 Major League Rugby season. Harry arrives from the Ireland Sevens squad with Sean making the move to California from the New England Free Jacks. Both recently appeared at the World Tens Series event in Bermuda, with Harry lining up for SX10 and Sean the London Royals.
Harry is the older of the two at 27. Born in Bahrain, he lived in New York for a decade as a youth before his family returned to Ireland. Originally an outside back in the Munster academy system, he has been a standout forward with the Irish Sevens side for several years and now makes the switch to flanker – a move similar to San Diego’s Jasa Veremalua.
Sean, 25, has represented Ireland at u20 level but remains eligible for the USA on 10-year residency. He enjoyed a brief spell on loan with Rugby United New York in 2019 before returning to the New England for the 2020 campaign. This past season he started all five matches at hooker for the Free Jacks.
Harry is the second loose forward confirmed by LA for their inaugural MLR campaign following former Scotland No8 Adam Ashe. Sean follows Shute Shield standout Mahe Vailanu at hooker, with former Houston and NOLA player Lindsey Stevens set to add extra depth in the front row.
