Austin signs Canada winger Cole Davis

Make it two Canadian wingers heading to Austin. Just two days after confirming Jeff Hassler‘s move from Seattle to the Texas capital, the Gilgronis have announced the signing of fellow Albertan export Cole Davis for the 2021 Major League Rugby season.

Davis, 23, won five caps for Canada in 2018 after impressing with the national u20 side. He had previously spent two years training with the Brumbies academy in Australia. Injuries have limited his availability since playing two World Sevens Series events, most recently in January 2019.

The powerful runner joins an impressive cast of backfielders in Austin. In addition to Hassler, the Gilgronis have also added a pair of midfielders in US Eagles starter Bryce Campbell and top draft pick Lui Sitama. Returnees include speedy winger Rodrick Waters, former All Black Frank Halai, and club captain Zinzan Elan-Puttick.
