Russia extends RWC 2027 bid to include RWC 2031

Russia has decided to step up its bid to host a Rugby World Cup. In July, the world’s largest country confirmed a bid for RWC 2027. Now in October Russia Rugby has extended the bid to include RWC 2031.

The union confirmed the decision. In doing so, Russia may now be better placed to secure hosting rights. Thus far the bidders for RWC 2027 are Australia and Russia. No other union has expressed interest in bidding for RWC 2027.

The picture for RWC 2031 is different. World Rugby has encouraged the USA to bid and an investigation is underway into the possibility. Should a bid go ahead then it would be the first ever from the Americas. Also interested is RWC 1991 and 2015 hosts England.

ARN received a hosting model for a RWC in Russia. It can be seen by clicking here.
