Spain name Bautista Güemes on training roster

Spanish Head Coach Santiago Santos has named a training roster. Included is fly half Bautista Güemes. The Argentine fly half is one of 32 players who will train together from September 28 to October 04 in Guadalajara.

The seven day camp will involve players from Spain’s División de Honor. Noted for their returns are David Melé, Matt Foulds, and Ivan Kitutu. They are joined by newcomers Alex Alonso, Christian Rust, and Diego Periel.

Güemes is from Buenos Aires’ CUBA club. He moved to Europe in 2015 to join Agen and subsequently played for Vannes. He moved to Spain in 2017, joining Barcelona. His qualifies to play for Spain under the three year residency rule. Additional Argentine players on the roster are Andrés Álvarado, Ignacio Contardi, Joaquín Domínguez, and Juan Pablo Guido.

The roster has some notable omissions. They include Guillermo Domínguez, Andrew Norton, Alberto Blanco, Ruan Snyman, and JW Bell. Domínguez misses out through injury while players based in France are unavailable for the camp.

Spain is yet to have fixtures confirmed. Plans are advanced for a two match tour of Uruguay in November.
