Canadian flanker Lucas Hotton heads to Floirac

Québec flanker Lucas Hotton will play for CMF Floirac in the French Fédérale 1 league this coming season. The news follows an earlier announcement that Rugby Québec was sending 19 of its top players, some Canadian internationals, to play in the Women’s Élite divisions in France.

Hotton, 27, was a standout in university with the Concordia Stingers along with home club TMR. In 2016 he played for James Bay in the BC Premier League. Captain of the provincial team in the Eastern Canadian Super League, Hotton has also represented the Atlantic Rock in the Canadian Rugby Championship.

Floirac will compete in Pool 1 of the semi-professional Fédérale 1, competing against the likes of former Pro D2 clubs Limoges, Marmande, and Périgueux. Also in the division is Olympique Marcquois, who will feature American lock Victor Comptat this season having made the move from the Houston SaberCats.
