Old Christians impress in Week 1 of Uruguayo de Clubes

Reigning champions Old Christians Club impressed in week 1 of the 2020 Uruguayo de Clubes. The team were 61-5 winners over fellow Montevideo side, Ceibos. The match was one of five in the first round of any rugby in the Americas since March.

Carrasco Polo also won by an impressive scoreline today. The team’s 57-15 victory over Seminario featured sublime play from RWC 2019 winger Nicolás Freitas.

In the battle of Punta Carretas, Los Cuervos were too good for PSG, winning 40-7. This was the case while Old Boys bad a bye.

The oldest rugby club in the world outside of Europe, MVCC also came out on top. MVCC were 38-8 winners over Lobos in Punta del Este.

Meanwhile, the tightest match of week 1 saw Trébol de Paysandú claiming a 36-25 away victory over Champagnat.
