Agustín Creevy set to join London Irish from Jaguares

Agustín Creevy is set to join London Irish from Los Jaguares, reports Sergio Stuart for Argentine publication Olé. An official announcement is expected from London Irish in the coming days.

The 35-year-old is the most capped Puma of all-time. He has 89 test caps from 2005-2019 and is the most capped captain, having led his country in 49 test matches.  He converted to hooker from flanker in 2009 and has been a permanent fixture in Los Pumas ever since.

Creevy has played professional rugby in England previously. He played for the Worcester Warriors from 2013-2015 before returning to Argentina to be the first captain of Los Jaguares. Additional prior professional experience include playing hooker for Montpellier and Clermont and flanker for Biarritz.

He joined Montpellier after RWC 2011. This coincided with Mario Ledesma’s retirement. With it, Creevy and Eusebio Guiñazú became the hookers over the following seasons with Creevy becoming first choice and captain in 2014. Under his leadership Argentina reached the Semi Finals of RWC 2015.

His move to the UK continues Los Jaguares’ player exodus. He follows the departure of six fellow regular Jaguares to Europe, while three other players have departed from Los Ceibos. Another linked to a move is Julián Montoya. Should he depart too then Santiago Socino would be the one remaining hooker at Los Jaguares.
