Los Yakarés in Mar Del Plata for Americano de Seven

Los Yakarés are in Mar Del Plata for the Americano de Seven, the first of two international Rugby Sevens tournaments taking place in South America this month. Argentina’s premier tournament will be played over the coming weekend and see teams from South America joined by Canada, South Africa and the USA.

Paraguay will compete in Pool A and have the tough task of competing against Canada, South Africa and Uruguay. The senior men’s teams of the three opposition sides all competed at Rugby World Cup 2015 while Paraguay is yet to qualify for a tournament.

Paraguay’s participation in Mar del Plata is aimed at improving competitiveness and gaining valuable experience. First up for Los Yakarés will be a match against last season’s World Series Sevens champions, South Africa. The match will take place on Saturday at 2:25pm local time.

Subsequent matches will see Paraguay facing Canada at 3:40pm and Uruguay at 5:20pm. Depending on performances Paraguay will be placed into the Cup, Plate or Bowl category for Sunday’s fixtures.
