Canada and the USA are to host England in mid-year internationals in 2021, reports Will Kelleher for the Daily Mail. England’s tour to North America will be during the July International window, the time time wherein the British & Irish Lions will be touring South Africa.
If confirmed the two test-match tour would be the first of its kind in two decades. The last time that Canada and the USA played host to England was in June 2001. The tour saw five matches in all, three of them were capped with Canada facing England twice an the USA doing so once. The remaining matches saw England facing British Columbia and the USA ‘A’.
In the first test match England were 22-10 winners over Canada in Markham, Ontario; it was the tightest match of the tour. England won 39-20 against Canada in Burnaby, British Columbia and 48-19 against the USA in San Diego, California.
Additional details reported by Kelleher note that England will not be touring Argentina during the RWC 2015-2019 cycle. England are, nonetheless, scheduled to play host to Argentina in November 2020. If that match is to go ahead, it will be the first of two games between the teams in London during the current RWC cycle.
