Enrique Pieretto moves north to Scotland

Enqique Pieretto is to move north to Scotland at the end of the current English Premiership season. The Argentine tight head prop has signed a two year contract with the Glasgow Warriors that begins in mid 2020.

The Córdoba front-rower makes the move from the Exeter Chiefs. He joined the English Premiership side in November 2019, doing so from Los Jaguares in Super Rugby. His move came after he had been the replacement tight head throughout the 2019 campaign behind Santiago Medrano.

Medrano was the replacement to Juan Figallo for Los Pumas at RWC 2019. Pieretto was also on the roster and made one appearance, facing the USA as a replacement in Argentina’s final fixture.

The match against the Eagles in Kumagaya was Pieretto’s 24th cap. His first was against Italy in Santa Fé in 2016, while injury saw him missing all of Argentina’s test matches in 2018.

Additional caps are expected in 2020. Juan Figallo has retired and the new RWC cycle requires Argentina to win matches to rise in the world rankings in time for the RWC 2023 seeding in December.
