Luke White is the new captain of the Colorado Raptors. The announcement came from the renamed franchise on Monday afternoon. He succeeds recently retired Eagles scrumhalf Shaun Davies, who led the team under the Glendale moniker in the first two Major League Rugby campaigns.
Originally from Sydney, Australia, White is now US-eligible having joined the Raptors in 2015. He played for the Denver Stampede during the 2016 PRO season. The 6’3″ (1.91m) forward played both lock and loosehead prop during the 2018 MLR season but made a permanent shift to the second row in 2019.
White is known for his aggressive ball carrying and fiery on-field persona. The 28-year-old acted as vice-captain in 2019, leading the side on six occasions. He started in 15 of 16 matches and was second only to Brendan Daly in minutes played among the Raptors forwards.
