Los Jaguares completed a two-game sweep of the visiting Georgia XV on Friday evening with a near identical result to the first match. The final score at San Isidro Club read 66-7 in favor of the home side, with the Georgians managing to score their first try of the series at the hour mark.
The speed of the Jaguares attack was simply too much for the Georgians to handle. Gonzalo Bertranou moved the ball quickly from the breakdown with multiple support runners available to connect on line breaks which were plentiful. Georgia caused problems at the scrum but elsewhere were well beaten.
20-year-old Pumitas graduate Santiago Chocobares was outstanding in the Jaguares midfield. In his 52 minutes of action he scored the opening try himself and created others for Matías Orlando and Tomás Albornoz with smart running lines and accurate passing. Santiago Montagner scored on the stroke of halftime after a Rodrigo Bruni line break to make it 26-nil.
The second half started with Lucas Mensa coming on at inside center and Chocobares sliding out one spot. Quick hands from the two put Sebastián Cancelliere away within two minutes of the restart. Juan Pablo Zeiss crossed in a driving maul just a few minutes later.
Georgia’s lone try came from replacement prop Beka Gvaramia, who showed good skill to pick up Vano Putkaradze’s ankle-high offload and crash over the line. A response came with interest, however, as Santiago Carreras sped away followed immediately by Mensa.
There was time for two more rapid-fire scores, the first from Emiliano Boffelli and then a second for Albornoz who had re-entered the match at fullback after being replaced by Domingo Miotti at halftime. Albornoz and Miotti combined for 8 of 10 conversions, with the latter’s only miss the final kick that rang off the upright.
