Canada will play Italy in Halifax on the July 11 weekend, likely at Wanderers Grounds though the venue is yet to be confirmed. The fixture is the second match set for the new test window which has been shifted from June. A non-test against the French Barbarians will be played in Montreal the week prior.
It will be the second test played in Halifax following the defeat to the USA Eagles at Wanderers in June 2018. The east coast city also hosted a Rugby World Cup warm-up between Canada and the Glasgow Warriors in August 2015.
The Azzurri have been the most frequent Tier One opponents for the Canucks in recent years. In the eight meetings in the professional era Italy have lost just one, the first in November 2000. Most recently Canada were beaten 48-7 at RWC 2019 in Fukuoka, Japan.
Italy is now set for an Americas tour that will see them play the USA, Canada, and Argentina on successive weekends. The North American sides could face each other to fill the third slot in the July window.
