Romania played host to the USA as part of the 2018 November Internationals. The match continued the long history between the Oaks and Eagles which dates back to the 1934 Paris Olympic Games. It was following RWC 1999 when regular competition began between the countries. Only three of the nine tests between the sides were played before then.
In the RWC 2015-2019 cycle Romania played host to two matches against the USA. In 2016 the Eastern Europeans were 23-10 winners. The Eagles looked to turn this around in the 2018 fixture as they were well into their planning for RWC 2019 in Japan.
