Colombians Ceballos and Carvajal moving to Uruguay

Colombians Diver Ceballos and Geovanny Carvajal are moving to Uruguay, reports Ignacio Chans. The flanker and center are to join second-rower Danny Giraldo in moving to play for Peñarol from Colombia for the 2020 Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) season.

The trio are all internationally capped players for Los Tucanes. Earlier this year they all played for Colombia against the Uruguay XV in the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A. In the match Carvajal was a try scorer for Los Tucanes. He would also score in the thumping win over Paraguay in the same tournament.

Later on in the year the trio were all key players for Colombia in the Americas Rugby Challenge. They all featured in Los Tucanes’ wins over the Cayman Islands, Mexico, and Paraguay.

The three Colombians are part of a foreign legion that will play for Peñarol in the SLAR. They join Jerónimo Portela, and Raffaele Storti from Portugal; Mauro Genco, and Alfredo Pueyrredrón from Argentina; Janry du Toit, and Obert Nortjé from Namibia; and Bradley Thain from South Africa.

There are still to be two Tongan signatures announced in addition to one further player from South Africa.
