Peñarol have added to their playing roster by recruiting two players from Argentina, reports Ignacio Chans. The Uruguayan side for the new Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (SLAR) has signed Alfredo Pueyrredón, and Mauro Genco.
Both Pueyrredón and Genco played in Montevideo against Uruguay in August, doing so for the Sudamérica XV. Pueyrredón was the starting scrum-half while Genco was a replacement.
Pueyrredón is the third scrum-half following Namibia’s Damian Steven and Los Teros’ Santiago Arata. The Uruguayan world-class scrum-half has an offer from Castres to play in the Top 14 next season.
Genco also has representative honors. The 24-year-old prop has played for the Argentina XV and also has prior professional experience playing for VRAC in Spain.
Further Peñarol players are to continue being revealed over the coming days.
