The NOLA Gold will play their rugby on the north side of the Mississippi River in 2020. A lease agreement with the city has been secured and the team will move from Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero to the Shrine on Airline in Metairie.
Formerly known as Zephyr Field, the Shrine was most recently host to the New Orleans Baby Cakes, a minor league baseball team that has now relocated to Wichita, Kansas. With the field vacant, NOLA moved quickly to become the new tenants and the deal has now been approved.
NOLA will play all eight regular season home games at the stadium that will now be dubbed ‘The Gold Mine’. The field has been reconfigured with sod now covering the baseball diamond and permanent rugby posts installed. Its 10,000 capacity is more than double that of Archbishop Shaw.
Season tickets are now available via the NOLA Gold website.
