Americas trio named in Barbarians squad to play Wales

Three North American internationals have been named in the Women’s Barbarians squad that will play against Wales next weekend. The women’s game will precede the men’s match of the same two teams with the double-header taking place at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.

Canada scrumhalf Brianna Miller is joined by USA counterpart Ashlee Byrge and Women’s Eagles lock Alycia Washington in the match day 23. It’s the first selection for each to the famous invitational side. All three are currently involved in the Can-Am Series in San Diego that will finish today.

Japan will have players in the side for the first time as front row pair Saki Minami and captain Seina Saito are named, the Sakura making history by defeating Scotland earlier today. Other notables include Black Ferns lock Eloise Blackwell and Ireland midfield duo Jenny Murphy and Sene Naoupu.

In Barbarians tradition there is one uncapped player named in Waterloo No8 Beth Stafford. Former Scotland winger Lauren Harris also suits up one year after her final test appearance.
