Jamason Fa’anana-Schultz will be making a pit-stop in the Pacific before joining Old Glory DC for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. The new US Eagles cap has signed a short-term contract until January with the Kurita Water Gush of Japan’s second division, the Top Challenge League.
It’s not the first time the 23-year-old has played in the land of the Brave Blossoms. He previously lined up for the NTT Docomo Red Hurricanes prior to signing for the Houston SaberCats earlier in 2019. On that occasion he managed just a couple appearances before moving to the USA.
Fa’anana-Schultz made a big impression upon his arrival in MLR, the powerful No8 earning Eagles selection for the Pacific Nations Cup though he did not ultimately get a spot in the squad for the Rugby World Cup. Though originally from Australia he has previously represented Samoa u20 but qualifies for the USA through his Los Angeles-born father.
