SaberCats sign former Eagles winger Tim Stanfill

The Houston SaberCats have reached back to PRO for a second time. After bringing prop Valdemar Lee-Lo out of the rugby wilderness, the team has now confirmed the signature of former USA Eagles winger Tim Stanfill for the 2020 Major League Rugby season.

Last seen in professional rugby with the San Diego Breakers in 2016, Stanfill has since been playing for OMBAC in the California Cup and Pacific Rugby Premiership. He rose to prominence after an impressive showing with the USA Select XV in the 2014 Americas Rugby Championship that led to him winning six test caps between then and 2016.

Stanfill has missed out on two seasons of MLR but remains a potent attacking player who should challenge for a starting spot with the SaberCats this coming season. Malacchi Esdale will return for a third campaign while Zack Godfrey has arrived from England. It remains to be seen if Eagles cap Deion Mikesell will feature again in 2020.
