The Utah Warriors have confirmed the addition of South African forward Jurie van Vuuren for the 2020 Major League Rugby season. He joins the side after two seasons with Eastern Province and the Southern Kings, playing in both the Currie Cup and Guinness Pro 14.
Equally comfortable at lock or blindside flanker, van Vuuren graduated through the Western Province academy program and was a surprise call-up for the Stormers during the 2014 Super Rugby season. He was part of the squad again the following year but then stayed with the Currie Cup side until 2017, when he moved to Port Elizabeth.
At 26 years old he remains in the prime of his athletic career and will join countryman Franco van den Berg in the Warriors pack. Former All Black flanker Adam Thomson is also set to suit up in 2020, with a host of new names still to be revealed under new coach Chris Latham.
