Argentina’s Tomás Lavanini is facing suspension following his first half red card against England earlier today. World Rugby has confirmed that he is to attend a disciplinary hearing on Monday.
Argentina second-row Tomas Lavanini was issued with a red card for a dangerous tackle contrary to Law 9.13 during Argentina’s Rugby World Cup 2019 match against England on 5 October.
Lavanini’s disciplinary hearing will be before an independent Judicial Committee consisting of Adam Casselden SC (Australia); with former test rugby coach Frank Hadden (Scotland); and former test match referee Donal Courtney (Ireland).
It is expected that Lavanini will receive a ban of 3-6 weeks. This may take into account his early first half red card as one of these weeks. In all likelihood Lavanini will thereby not play against the USA on Wednesday with his next match to be in the English Premiership for his new side, the Leicester Tigers.
