Peter Tiberio has brought the curtains down on his playing career. The 30-year-old outside back from Aurora, Illinois, will hang up the boots after two seasons of Major League Rugby with the Seattle Seawolves. The decision comes after concussion ruled him out of the second half of the 2019 season.
An international in both sevens and XVs for the USA, Tiberio’s representative career for his country began at under-20 level in the 2009 Junior World Trophy held in Kenya. He would make his World Sevens Series debut in 2011, appearing in a dozen tournaments through 2016. His first and only test match came as a replacement against Brazil in the 2017 Americas Rugby Championship.
Tiberio made the jump from the Seattle Saracens to the Seawolves ahead of the inaugural MLR season in 2018. He would play in nine matches, starting on the wing in the final victory over Glendale. In 2019 he started the first eight games before being injured while playing against San Diego.
