Bradbury and Pyrgos called up by Scotland

Scotland have been forced to make two changes to their World Cup cup squad due to injuries suffered in their loss to Ireland on Sunday. Flanker Hamish Watson has been replaced by his Edinburgh teammate Magnus Bradbury, while scrumhalf Ali Price is returning home with Henry Pyrgos joining the squad. Both changes are significant blows to the team.

Watson was stretchered off with a knee injury at the end of the first half. The openside specialist was a clear first choice with many considering him unlucky not to have been selected for the Lions in 2017. Bradbury is a blindside or No8 but another Edinburgh flanker, Jamie Ritchie, is expected to wear the No7 jersey now that he is recovered sufficiently from a facial injury.

Price sustained a foot injury after coming on as a replacement with a post-match examination ruling him out of further involvement. He emerged as Scotland’s top No9 during the Six Nations and now sees his World Cup ended after just 20 minutes of game time. Pyrgos was part of the extended training group prior to the tournament and already has 27 caps to his name.
