Colombia Arrive in Brazil Targeting South American A

The national men’s team of Colombia, Los Tucanes have arrived in Brazil to prepare for this coming Saturday’s promotion / relegation match-up. The winning team will earn the right to compete in the 2016 South American A Championship while the loser will play in the South American B competition.

Colombia’s roster contains 20 players who are training during the week in Sao José Dos Campos but will travel to São Paulo for the test match on Saturday. The fixture will be played at the Estadio do Canindé, a 20,000 capacity venue.

Currently ranked higher than Brazil, Colombia enters the fixture after having gone undefeated in the 2015 South American B Championship. Wins over Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela resulted in Los Tucanes rising to 43rd in the World Rankings, two places above the current ranking of Brazil. Not withstanding of the 8 previous fixtures between the countries Brazil has won all of them.

The Tupis are also training in São José dos Campos. The 33-man roster will be reduced to 23 for the match.
