RWC Rewind Canada: vs Tonga 2003

During the final weeks of waiting for Rugby World Cup 2019 to arrive Americas Rugby News will be taking a look back at some moments from past RWCs involving competitors from the Americas. In week two the feature team is Canada.

In day four of the series the feature is Canada’s pool match against Tonga from RWC 2003. Played in Wollongong, Australia the match was the final fixture for both teams in the tournament.

The match was competitive with Canada outscoring Tonga by two tries to one. The North Americans’ tries were scored by Aaron Abrams, and Sean Fauth. Of the two the second was a well-worked training move which was pulled-off with perfect.

At RWC 2003 Canada was pooled with Italy, New Zealand, Tonga, and Wales. The North Americans would play against Italy in Canberra; New Zealand, and Wales in Melbourne; and Tonga in Wollongong.
