Americas Rankings – August 18 2019

There was one test match involving a competitor from the Americas this weekend. That fixture was South Africa vs Argentina in Pretoria. The Americas Rankings – August 19 2019 have been updated to take into account this fixture as well as noting the rankings implications from other matches from around the world.

Argentina’s 24-18 loss saw no points exchange in the rankings. Both South Africa and Argentina thereby retain their prior rankings points. South Africa has, nonetheless, risen from 5th to 4th in the world based on England losing against Wales.

The updated World Rankings on Monday will show Wales 1st and New Zealand 2nd. This is the case despite New Zealand having won 36-0 against the 6th placed Australia on Saturday.

France’s dominant display against Scotland will see the teams trading places. World Rugby’s rankings on Monday will show France 7th, and Scotland 8th in the world.

RWC 2019 warm-up matches will resume on Saturday, August 24. Both Canada, and Uruguay will be playing albeit in non-capped fixtures. Canada play host to Irish province Leinster in Hamilton, Ontario while Uruguay face the Sudamérica XV in Montevideo.
