Americas players in Pro D2 Week 11

The second division of French professional rugby reaches their 11th week of league play this weekend, and a large number of Argentine players are involved, along with one each from Chile, Uruguay, and USA.

Agustín Figuerola started at scrumhalf for Lyon in last night’s victory over Bayonne. Benjamín Macome was on the blindside for the losing side, while Pablo Huete came on as a second row reserve.

Takudzwa Ngwenya is the sole Eagle in Pro D2 action, maintaining his spot on the right wing for Biarritz. Teros scrumhalf Agustín Ormaechea has strangely been left on the bench for opponents Mont-de-Marsan.

Three Pumas line up for Dax against Montauban. Martín Chiappesoni moves to his more accustomed flank position from the back of the scrum, and Ignacio Mieres is in the unusual position of inside centre as opposed to his usual flyhalf spot. Second row Gerónimo Albertario is on the bench.

Tomás Vallejos Cinalli moves back into the second row for Aix-en-Provence this week. Thrown right in on the wing is new signing Lucas Martín Caneda to make his French rugby debut.

Carcassonne will look to Felipe Berchesi to steer the ship at flyhalf once again against Aurillac, but have left prop Nahuel Lobo to wait among the reserves.

Lastly, four Argentines will participate in the match between Tarbes and Albi. Agustín Costa Repetto starts a hooker while standout halfbacks Nicolás Vergallo and Sebastián Poet are selected for TPR. Les Albigeois will counter with former sevens standout Javier Rojas in the midfield.
