Mexico Win RAN u19s Title

Mexico made it a double in Barbados this weekend. Following on the Mexican Women winning the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Women’s 10’s Mexico went on to win the RAN u19’s title.

The RAN event took place at the Bellevue Plantation Polo Club in Bridgetown, Barbados. It finished earlier today, on Sunday afternoon with Mexico’s Men’s u19 side defeating the USA South Panthers to be crowned champions.

Opening proceedings on the final day was hosts Barbados who defeated Curaçao 30-0 in the 7th place play-off. It would be followed by a Caribbean derby which saw the Cayman Islands completing a 31-19 win over Jamaica in the 5th place final.

The battles for the top top spots would follow. The closest of the day’s u19 matches was that of the Bronze Final. Trinidad & Tobago would sneak in a 17–15 victory over Bermuda.

The final was a familiar battle, one which has been the tournament decider for five consecutive years. It was also one to underline the tremendous growth of Mexico. Up against the USA South Panthers, Mexico were 30-20 winners.
