Pools Announced For 2019 Pan American Games

The pools have been announced for the 2019 Pan American Games. Taking place in Lima, Peru there are to be eight competitors in both the men’s and women’s Rugby Sevens competition.

The competition will be played in the Peruvian capital over two days. The Games begin on Friday July 26 with Saturday July 27 and Sunday July 28 being the dates for Rugby Sevens to be played.

In both the Men’s and Women’s sections the pools have been organized by seeding. In the men’s competition this sees the USA and Argentina at the top of the respective pools followed by Brazil, and Canada.

The lower half of the men’s pools are to be divided by South American countries as the third seed in there form of Chile, and Uruguay; while the fourth spot sees RAN participants Guyana, and Jamaica.

The order of seeding purposely coincides with the the race for the medals. Those positioned in the top two of either group are expected to be the same teams who win the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals.

The Women’s section sees the USA, and Canada at the top of the respective pools. The number two seeds come from South America in the form of Colombia, and Brazil. As is the case in the men’s section it is from the top four wherein the medal winners are expected to come from.

The third and fourth seeds in Pool A are to be Argentina, and Mexico while in Pool B they will be Peru, and Trinidad & Tobago.

Overall it is consistent with the results from the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, Canada. At home Canada won Gold in both the Men’s and Women’s sections with the USA claiming the Women’s Silver and Men’s Bronze Medals. Argentina was the Men’s Silver while Brazil won the Women’s Bronze.
