Colombia is to host the 2019 Americas Rugby Challenge (ARCh) in August. This year’s edition is to be the second, and follows the inaugural competition in 2018 which was also played in Colombia.
Three of the four participants from the 2018 ARCh are back in 2019. The one change sees the Cayman Islands replacing Guyana. The Caymans earned the right to compete by winning their way into the competition in a qualifying series.
The Cayman Islands join Mexico in representing Rugby Americas North. Suramérica Rugby are to be represented by Colombia, and Paraguay.
In 2018 Colombia were unbeaten in the competition. They would impress and make history against Paraguay, a team they recently defeated by a 43-13 scoreline in the Sudamérica 6 Naciones A.
The 2019 ARCh will replicate that of 2018 in that all competitors will face each other. The competition will be played over a small time-frame of one week.
The match schedule has been set-up with the top two ranked sides, Colombia and Paraguay, potentially to face in the ARCh Final on August 31.
