Arrows send development team to New York

The Toronto Arrows have sent 20 players to New York for a match against the Collegiate All-Americans East on Saturday. Among them are five senior Arrows squad members who are looking to find increased playing time in the 2020 Major League Rugby season.

Canadian international winger Kainoa Lloyd is the most notable, having been included in the Pacific Nations Cup training group recently. Also seeing game time this season were loosehead prop Pat Lynott, hooker Jack McRogers, lock or eightman Kolby Francis, and utility back Mitch Richardson.

Among the newcomers is a second full Canada cap. Flyhalf Will Kelly has been training with the Arrows since his debut in the Americas Rugby Championship but is yet to make his MLR debut. Canada age-grade props Emerson Prior and Mo Yusuf take the trip, as does former national u20 scrumhalf Owen Brombal.

Ontario University All-Star No8 Matt Fish continues to press for an Arrows spot after showing well with the Ontario Blues against Old Glory. Another of interest will be 6’7″ (2.01m) Guelph University lock Cam Hurst, a Canada u18 cap and provincial rep.

Kickoff is set for 11am at Mazzella Field on Iona College campus.
