Referees Appointed for Romania, Spain Tours To South America

World Rugby has appointed the referees for Romania, and Spain’s upcoming tours to South America. The five test matches in the continent are to all to be refereed by South American officials with Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay to each feature.

Brazil’s leading official, Henrique Platais, will take charge of Chile vs Romania. While he has been officiating for a number of years him being allocated this match is genuinely groundbreaking. Of note is that he will be required to referee it in English.

On the same day Argentina’s Juan Pablo Federico will be blowing the whistle in São Paulo. He will do so for Brazil’s home match against Spain.

Two other Argentine referee’s have been appointed one match each. On June 15 Damian Schneider will officiate Brazil vs Romania and on June 22 Federico Anslemi will officiate Uruguay vs Spain.

Uruguay’s Santiago Romero has also been appointed one fixture. He will take charge of Chile vs Spain in Santiago on June 15.
