The Toronto Arrows will have a new face on their roster for Thursday’s re-scheduled match against Austin Elite. Canadian international Luke Campbell has arrived from James Bay in the BC Premier League to boost the loose forward stocks for the remainder of the Major League Rugby season.
Campbell, 27, won the first of his 9 test caps to date during the 2018 Americas Rugby Championship. Previously a flanker for club and with the provincial BC Bears side, Canada coach Kingsley Jones has turned him into a specialist No8 and it’s there that Campbell has started all of his tests.
It fills an immediate gap on Toronto’s roster. English import Jack Nay has been limited to just two games due to a bad ankle injury, leaving Kolby Francis as the only natural eightman in the squad. A recent knee injury suffered by Lucas Rumball left back row stocks thin making Campbell’s arrival timely.
Thursday’s match at York Alumni Field comes just four days removed from Toronto’s win over the San Diego Legion on Sunday. They will play their third match in 8 days this coming Sunday at Lamport Stadium against the Utah Warriors.
