Shane O’Leary will stay with Nottingham for the 2019-2020 RFU Championship season after signing a new one year deal. It’s particularly welcome news for the club who have been on an ambitious recruitment drive in recent weeks.
The Canadian international was an essential figure in the Nottingham side this past season. O’Leary started all 22 games and won the Championship scoring title, impressing both with his boot and his passing game. He was replaced only twice, playing in 97% of the team’s minutes all season.
With the Championship season now over, O’Leary has his sights set on the World Cup. The 26-year-old remains Canada’s most accomplished flyhalf despite being overlooked for the Repechage tournament in November, and is favored by many to wear the No10 shirt come September.
