Tucumán were far too good for Paraguay today, winning a friendly 95-8. The Northern Argentine province played at a great pace to run Paraguay ragged as former Jaguares Head Coach Raúl Pérez watched on.
Los Naranjas firmly controlled possession, forcing Paraguay to do little more other than defend throughout much of the match. The dominance was established by the Tucumán forward pack who were able to gain ground at will and enable opportunities for the backs.
Yet while the story of there afternoon was a dominant performance, and scoreline, for Los Naranjas after 13 minutes of play there was a contest. Paraguay’s 8 points were scored up until this point in time and it saw Los Yákares leading 8-7.
The remainder of the match was one-way traffic with Los Naranjas running in seven opening half tries and crossing for eight further scores in the second half. Argentina XV winger Pablo Avellaneda impressed in scoring a hat-trick.
