Old Glory sign league international Ryan Burroughs

Old Glory have dipped into the rugby league market with the signing of USA Hawks international Ryan Burroughs. The former Toronto Wolfpack regular joins Major League Rugby’s DC expansion franchise ahead of their inaugural spring campaign that will see them take the field as early as May.

An American football player in high school, Burroughs joined the Army before turning to professional rugby. He made his international debut for the Hawks in 2015, appearing in all three of their matches at the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. After spending one season with the Wolfpack he went on loan to London Skolars and subsequently Barrow Raiders in the RFL Championship.

Burroughs, 27, has only limited union experience but is likely to be used as an outside back. The Manasses, Virginia, native is the third signing by Old Glory, following Capital Selects No8 Josh Brown and Junior All-American prop Will Vakalahi.
