Brazil’s strong form in recent months has seen a second Tupis regular signed by the Utah Warriors. Arthur Bergo joins international teammate Josh Reeves at the club for the remainder of the Major League Rugby season. The 25-year-old is the first native Brazilian to officially be signed to an MLR deal.
Bergo is capable of playing across the back row but is most comfortable on the openside flank. His all-around ability saw him selected for Brazil’s entry in the 2016 Olympic Games and he has won 23 caps for the Tupis in the XV-a-side game. Most recently he captained the side for the final two matches of Americas Rugby Championship after Felipe Sancery was injured against the Eagles.
Utah are currently in 7th place on the MLR table and will welcome the returns of their ARC contingent that also includes USA speedster Gannon Moore. Bergo gives the team extra depth and flexibility on the forwards. Former Lindenwood hooker Jeremy Leber was added last week and made his debut off the bench against Rugby United New York.
