South American Players in MLR – Week 5 Preview

This weekend will see Week 5 of the MLR season taking place. The latest round is to be a busy one with four league matches. Not playing is NOLA Gold due to there being nine teams in the 2019 MLR season. Of those competing this weekend there is to be heavy involvement of Uruguayan players looking for spots on the RWC 2019 roster.

In Texas tonight Austin Elite are at home against the San Diego Legion. Starting for the home side will be Andrés Vilaseca at inside center and Juan Echeverría at tight head prop. Chilean Marcelo Torrealba will feature from the bench as the replacement scrum-half.

Across state in Houston the SaberCats will play host to the Toronto Arrows in a USA vs Canada club showdown. Mateo Sanguinetti will start for Houston at loose head prop while fellow Uruguayan second-rower Diego Magno, and n8 Alejandro Nieto will both feature from the bench. Outside backs Leandro Leivas, and Gastón Mieres bring the number of Teros in the game up to five with both being replacements for the Arrows.

On Saturday the Utah Warriors play host to the Glendale Raptors at Zions Bank Stadium. While on Sunday the Seattle Weawolves host RU New York. Line-ups for these matches have not yet been released. Brazilian fly half Josh Reeves will not play due to his involvement against the USA Eagles on Saturday.
