Paul Lasike will play no further part in the Americas Rugby Championship. The USA center was sent off in the 31st minute of the first half of the match against the Argentina XV for stamping on Matías Osadczuk.
According to the judicial report, Lasike’s offense was deemed to be a mid-range offense and an initial sanction of 6 weeks was determined. Due to his genuine remorse and the apology offered to the Argentine player the sanction was reduced to 4 weeks. Lasike will be free to play for his club side Harlequins on the weekend of March 16.
Also suspended as a result of a dangerous tackle in the same match is Argentina XV fullback Santiago Carreras. While he was not sanctioned during the match, his head-high tackle on Hanco Germishuys in the 78th minute was deemed reckless.
As with Lasike, the act was deemed to be mid-range and the initial sanction imposed was 6 weeks. Due to the lack of intent and other mitigating factors the suspension was then reduced to 3 weeks. Carreras will be free to play in the final round of the ARC against Chile on March 9.
