Barbarians book historic double-header at Twickenham

The Barbarians have booked a double-date with England on Sunday, June 2. Not only will the classic men’s invitational side be playing for the Quilter Cup, the women will also be in action as they play their third ever match and first ever international.

In another first the women’s match will be played before the men’s. Twickenham hosted the women’s international between England and Canada in November 2016 but it was played after the England’s men took on Argentina. On this occasion the women’s match will kick off at 12:45pm with the men’s game at 3:30pm local time.

Americas players have represented the women’s side in both of their previous matches. Canadian duo Kelly Russell and Amanda Thornborough wore the classic black and white stripes in the first ever women’s Barbarians match against Munster in November 2017, while the USA’s Jess Wooden lined up against the British Army in March of last year.

Numerous Americas players have suited up for the men’s side, the most recent being Juan Manuel Leguizamón who started against Los Pumas in November. With no June tests scheduled during a World Cup year there is a possibility for others to appear against England in June.
