Three week suspension for Santiago Arata

Uruguay scrumhalf Santiago Arata has been suspended for three weeks following his red card against Canada this past weekend during their opening round match of the Americas Rugby Championship. The 22-year-old was sent off by referee Federico Anselmi for a dangerous head-high tackle on Canadian winger Andrew Coe in the 16th minute.

World Rugby confirmed the suspension on social media:

The length of the suspension means that Arata will miss the tests against Chile and the Argentina XV but could still play the final two matches of the ARC against the USA and Brazil. Alternatively he would be free to play for his club side, the Houston SaberCats, in their Major League Rugby match against Rugby United New York on March 2.

Video of the incident can be seen embedded below.
