The feature match of round one of the 2019 ARC was Uruguay vs Canada. The two sides fought it out tooth-and-nail in Montevideo in a match decided in the final play. Uruguay’s last-gasp win sees Los Teros having a four match winning-streak over Canada.
For both countries the test match was not only the first of the 2019 ARC but it was also the first of the year itself. Both Uruguay and Canada will be competing at RWC 2019 in September and October. The ARC is a crucial stage on the road to Japan 2019.
Players from both countries and pressing for selection for the RWC itself. Some have their spots well-and-truly confirmed but there is still adequate time for many roster places to be determined. Saturday’s match was one which had some furthering their cases while others took a backwards step.
