Gonzalo Quesada has named a squad of 38 Jaguares to prepare for Thursday’s friendly against Uruguay. The match will serve as a tune-up for the two sides ahead of the Super Rugby and Americas Rugby Championship campaigns. The Jaguares open their season against the Lions on February 16 while Los Teros start the ARC at home against Canada on February 2.
There are five omissions from the initial group of 43 announced in December. Props Javier Díaz and Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro continue to be sidelined with injury. Dropping out of the squad are a trio of youngsters in lock Franco Molina, flanker Santiago Grondona, and outside back Santiago Carreras.
Named in the squad but ruled out of the match is Emiliano Boffelli. The Pumas star will miss the next three weeks after damaging his hamstring in training. Providing some comfort is the return of Joaquín Tuculet from the knee injury that kept him out of the entire test season in 2018.
Kickoff is set for 8pm local time (6pm Eastern) at the newly-renovated Estadio Charrúa in Montevideo. ESPN is set to provide a live broadcast.
