The Utah Warriors have confirmed their staff for the 2019 Major League Rugby season, with four new additions to help returning Head Coach Alf Daniels. This season he will have the support of two Assistant Coaches, a Team Manager, and a full-time Trainer.
Joining the side as Forwards Coach is former Scotland hooker Steve Scott. The 44-year-old won 11 caps while playing for Edinburgh, turning to coaching upon retirement. He has since been an assistant with Sale Sharks, Edinburgh, and Scotland.
Back and Skills Coach duties will fall on New Zealander James Semple, who will also act as Academy Manager. The former Counties Manukau and North Harbour flyhalf has made the switch to coaching at the age of just 28. A major focus for Semple will be to work on kicking, an area where the Warriors struggled in 2018.
Mark Drown takes over as Team Manager after filling the same role for the Fiji Sevens team beginning in September 2017. The full-time Trainer role will be filled by Sica Glauser.
The Warriors open their 2019 season against Austin Elite on February 1. They have yet to reveal their team roster but are expected to confirm several new names including US Eagles prop Huluholo Mo’ungaloa, Brazil flyhalf Josh Reeves, and former Seattle Seawolves winger Jeremy Misailegalu.
