Jaguares launch New Logo and Uniforms for 2019

A new logo and Uniforms have been launched for Los Jaguares for the 2019 Super Rugby season. It is part of an effort to move forward under the leadership of the new Head Coach Gonzalo Quesada.

The new logo is pictured below to the left. It replaces the logo pictured to the right. The former logo was used on uniforms for the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Super Rugby campaigns.

Changes see the name now appearing above rather than below the picture of the jaguar. In addition there is a change of colors and angle with the head and neck now being side rather than the prior look which was close to being vertical.

The early feedback to the change has been mixed. Some have suggested that no change was required with  the prior logo being deemed superior. There have also been people pointing out on social media that the new logo is not unique with it resembling that of northern Florida’s NFL team the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In 2019 there are to again be two Jaguares uniforms. As pictured below they are to come in the varieties of predominantly orange and black. The orange uniform, pictured to the left, is to be the alternate strip. The black uniform, pictured to the right, will be the home uniform.

The new uniforms are supplied by Nike and continue to be joined by Visa as the sponsor on the front. On the inside of the uniform is the writing Night Hunter.

The new uniforms are now on sale. They can be seen in the official UAR Rugby Store by clicking here.

The launch of the logo and uniforms took place this morning in Buenos Aires. Present was SANZAAR CEO Andy Marinos together with Fernando Rizzi, Jaime Barba, and members of the playing roster including Matías Alemanno, Santiago García Botta, Pablo Matera, Julián Montoya, Ramiro Moyano, and Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro.

Also being changes for 2019 is the Jaguares’ training field. From 2016-2018 the team trained at BACRC while for nest year the team will train at Club Newman, also in Buenos Aires.

Additional details are to surface over the coming weeks. They are to include the final playing roster and the coaching staff. Expected to be added to the roster are members of Mario Ledesma’s touring squad for the November Internationals.

New names expected to be among the roster are Luciano Sordoni (prop), Mayco Vivas (prop), Santiago Grondona (flanker), Rodrigo Bruni (no 8), and Santiago Carreras (fullback). They all featured on the tour with Sordini and Bruni debuting in test matches and the remainder playing against the Barbarians.

The biggest name yet to re-sign with the UAR is Agustín Creevy. The former captain was rumored to have come to terms to remain at Los Jaguares last month. Americas Rugby News can confirm he has not yet signed a new contract. His existing contract expires at the end of this month.

Nicolás Sánchez departed one week ago for Stade Français. Filling his boots against the Barbarians was Joaquín Díaz Bonilla. He made his test debut on the November tour and came through the match against the Barbarians strongly. He is another to have had offers from Europe.

Also of interest is Martín Landajo. The veteran scrum half went from starting no 9 to now being the third choice under Mario Ledesma. English Premiership club the Harlequins are among sides to have shown interest in signing Landajo.

New Head Coach Gonzalo Quesada is yet to finalize his coaching staff. Confirmed is former Pumas hooker Andrés Bordoy who, like Quesada, joins Los Jaguares from France. Juan Fernández Miranda is expected to be named as the backs coach.
