Week 10 of France’s Pro D2 begins today. In the latest round of competition eight league matches will be played from Thursday through Sunday. Involved are to be a host of players from the Americas. The following preview details their involvement.
Today’s one, and only, fixture sees Mont de Marsan at home to Colomiers. Uruguayan scrum half Agustín Ormaechea starts for the home side as does Italian-capped Argentine second-rower Leandro Cedaro. On the bench will be Argentine prop Jerónimo Negrotto. Colomiers have named two Argentine players of their own with Martín Chiappessoni starting at flanker and Agustín Costa Repetto doing so at hooker.
On Friday Conor Trainor will have a final hit-out before joining Canada for the RWC Repechage. To the delight of Canadians he will not start but instead feature for Nevers as a replacement against Brive. This is in the interests of his country looking to have him heavily involved against Germany, Hong Kong, and Kenya.
Uncapped Argentine Demian Panizzo will be on the bench for Carcassonne. His team have home advantage against strugglers Massy. Similarly prop Leandro Mario Assi will be a replacement for Aix en Provence against Biarritz.
In Central France uncapped USA forward Christian Ostberg will play as a replacement for Aurillac against Bourg-en-Bresse. His club need a win to move away from the relegation zone.
Closing out Week 10 will be Montauban vs Bayonne. The Sunday clash will likely involve Americas’ players. Team lineups for the fixture will not be available until Saturday afternoon.
