Pro 14 – Week 8 Preview

Despite the November Internationals starting on Saturday for the Pro 14 union members there is to be a regular round of the league. From Friday to Sunday week 8 of the Pro 14 will take place. The following preview documents the involvement of Americas’ players.

There are to be two Friday matches, both of which will be in the UK. Edinburgh will play host to the Scarlets, doing so with Juan Pablo Socino involved as a replacement. Socino has not received the same game time for Edinburgh as was the case at his prior club, the Newcastle Falcons.

A second Argentine player in Guido Volpi will defend the colors of the Ospreys in another Scotland vs Wales club match. Volpi will feature from the bench with former USA age grade representative Hanno Dirksen will play wing for the Ospreys.

Earning his first start for the Glasgow Warriors is David Tameilau. The USA forward will start at the back of the scrum. DTH van der Merwe has been named to play on the right wing. He is to be vital for Canada in the upcoming RWC 2019 Repechage tournament in France.

On Saturday Italy face Ireland in Chicago meanwhile in northern Italy there is to be a Pro 14 fixture between the respective nations’ teams. Starting in the mid-field for Benetton Treviso against Ulster will be Juan Ignacio Brex. Fellow former Argentina XV player Tomás Baravalle is to be the replacement hooker.

On Sunday the Cardiff Blues have home advantage against Zebre. Either side is to have a player from the Americas involved. USA enforcer Samu Manoa will play from the bench for the Welsh region. Starting for the Italians at tight head prop will be Eduardo Bello. Given the needs of Los Pumas at present his name is one to continue to monitor closely.
