Joe Schmidt has named 42 players in his Ireland squad for the November international series. The Americas will be involved in three of their four tests, with the first match against Italy taking place in Chicago, the second test against Argentina, and the final match of their season against the USA in Dublin.
The group is close to full strength with only British & Irish Lions scrumhalf Conor Murray injured and unavailable of the first choice side. Munster center Chris Farrell misses out with a knee injury and Connacht lock Ultan Dillane is left out in the cold.
Captaining the side is test centurion Rory Best, with flanker Peter O’Mahony and flyhalf Jonathan Sexton acting as deputies. Other Lions tourists named include Cian Healy, Jack McGrath, Tadhg Furlong, Iain Henderson, Sean O’Brien, CJ Stander, Robbie Henshaw, Keith Earls, and Rob Kearney.
There are just three uncapped players selected. Leinster flyhalf Ross Byrne was on the summer tour but did not make a test appearance. Munster midfielder Sam Arnold earns his first call as does Ulster fullback Will Addison, rewarded after showing good form since signing from Sale Sharks in the summer.
