Pro D2 – Week 7 Preview

Week 7 of the Pro D2 begins today. The latest round of France’s second division will be involvement from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Uruguay, and the USA.

The first player from the Americas to feature will be Leandro Mario Assi. The Argentine prop has been named on the bench for Aix en Provence who have home advantage on Friday against Carcassonne.

Uncapped USA player Christian Ostberg is to also play on Friday. He has been named on the bench for central French side Aurillac who are to play at home against Montauban.

In France’s north-west Vannes will be looking for a strong home performance against Colomiers. Starting at Loose Head for Vannes will be Eric Fry. The USA Eagle will face Argentina’s flanker Martín Chiappesoni and fly half Sebastián Poet. The former starts with the latter named on the bench.

Down in Basque country Bayonne are in search of a big home win. The club has named Chilean Ramón Ayerza to start the match at Loose Head. Involved for the visiting Nevers is Conor Trainor. The Canadian utility back will start the match at outside center.

Near the Swiss border Bourg en Bresse will have home advantage against Massy. The home team has named Argentina’s Victor Damian Arias to start the match at Tight Head prop.

Also starting prop, but at Loose head will be Carlos Muzzio. He starts for Mont de Marsan Mont de Marsan who are at home against Biarritz. Joining Muzzio will be Uruguayan scrum-half Agustín Ormaechea, and Argentine prop Jerónimo Negrotto. Both will play from the bench.

Week 7 of the Pro D2 will conclude on Sunday. The final fixture sees Brive at home against Charente. Line-ups for this match will be announced on Saturday afternoon.
